The Look Buffet #37
We've officially hit that point in winter where I'll be dressing for the weather I want rather than the weather there is.
Before we dive in... I’m lucky to receive gifts and collaborate with amazing brands, which I'll always mention. Products marked with * are affiliate links, meaning I earn a small commission if you buy through them—at no extra cost to you. Think of it as a thank you for the inspo!
Monday

On the menu:
Brown leather ballet flats (similar*)
Tasting notes:
When I tell you the outfit below has been haunting me on Pinterest I am not exaggerating! Every. single. time. I open up the app - there she is. So it was a matter of time before I shopped my wardrobe for pieces that achieve a similar look. My lighter wash jeans were in the laundry basket, but this works with the slightly darker pair anyway. I tweaked it, swapping out the loafers for a ballerina. I love the loafer look here but felt on myself it needed a little skin by way of the top of my foot peeping out. Loved - will certainly be repeating.
Tuesday
On the menu:
Black pointed leather boots (similar*)
Tasting notes:
Tuesday it was quite frankly hideous weather, so I built my outfit around the boots I knew I would need to get me safe and dry to the office. (This was in fact the one day I decided to dress weather appropriately, for the record.) The default outfit to accompany my practical footwear is pretty much always jeans and a jumper. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken. I chucked on my Lié Studios Vera earrings to add a small element of interest, but other than this I kept it simple. And it always works to be honest.
Wednesday
On the menu:
Black wool double breasted coat (similar*)
Light wash barrel leg jeans (similar*)
Light brown suede loafers (similar*)
Tasting notes:
Wednesday was spent mainly horizontal - I woke up with a blinding headache so took the day to relax, and mainly keep away from screens. When I perked up in the afternoon, this is what I threw on to head out for some fresh air and a trip to the Post Office. While the tones in the outfit are all totally neutral, there feels to be a little more going on - not just with the leopard print in the bag - but the quantity of different neutrals. I actually enjoyed this outfit for the brief 40 minutes it was on my body! It felt different due to the number of tones, but still very safe and very me.
Thursday
On the menu:
Navy chunky cashmere jumper (similar*)
Brown leather ballet flats (similar*)
Black leather bucket bag (similar*)
Brown wool oversized coat (similar*)
Tasting notes:
Sometimes the best starting point for an outfit comes from the screenshots on your phone. I’ve recently started screengrabbing more and more. Not just outfits to recreate, but anything where I like the colour palette. Monikh Dale’s almost daily edits over on her IG stories make up pretty much 80% of my screenshot folder. Her eye for beautiful colour combinations is second to none. Always interesting, never intimidating. On Wednesday evening I picked out this screengrab for the next morning’s outfit inspo. While it’s not showing up well on the photo above, I went with navy, sandy coloured beige & brown. I LOVED this combo - and I unlocked a new outfit that I probably would not have put together if not for this screengrab. Always be on the look out for new colour combos to inspire your looks.

Friday
I was pretty gross and stayed the whole day in my sweaty workout gear after out 7am class. Nothing to see here…
Saturday
On the menu:
Brown leather ballet flats (similar*)
Tasting notes:
It felt pretty mild on Saturday, and we were heading into central for some errands. Knowing we would be on and off the tube, and in and out of shops, I didn’t layer up too much. The base on my outfit was my usual formula - jeans and a tee. But something about the tee being grey, and the jeans being brown felt different to the usual white and blue. A grey tee is fast becoming my go to over a white one at the moment too. Saturday night we headed over to our friends’ place for dinner (very chill vibes - the kind where you show up in sweats and faux fur*).
Sunday
On the menu:
Beige striped shirt (similar*)
Brown leather ballet flats (similar*)
Black leather bucket bag (similar*)
Tasting notes:
My style challenge of the day on Sunday was to wear a shirt. While I love a jumper and jeans combo, I wanted to stretch myself to style a piece of clothing I rarely reach for. Ok, this one belongs to Leo, but I think it still counts. I wanted to play with layers (I wore my brown tailored coat over the top) and just try something I do less often. I find when I layer a shirt over a white tee, I like to go with a more feminine shoe and show some skin to balance out the look. I would wear this with a sandal come spring, or my slip on ballet flats.
If you got this far, well done (and thank you)! If you liked any of these looks, do let me know in the comments. See you next week for more outfit diaries.
