The Look Buffet #38
Thinking about spring & adding personality pieces to my minimalist wardrobe...

Tasting notes:
My days in jumpers and jeans are numbered. Not because I’m jetting off to warmer climes, or because the weather is due to be particularly good (although it is getting a little milder this week)… In fact I’m just giving up completely on A/W dressing. I am soooo done. I am in such a rut and frankly cannot wait for linen pants and tees with flip flops. In the meantime, I’m going to try and swap out my jumpers for button downs over t-shirts at least a few times a week, as my looks are just so repetitive at the moment I am losing the joy in getting dressed.
Tuesday

Tasting notes:
Personality pieces are pretty much on the lips of all the coolest of the cool girls right now, whether it’s here on Fashion Substack or across IG, TikTok, YouTube - everywhere. Everyone’s looking for those pieces that add the finishing touch of interest to our go, to easy-to-repeat base layers. If I look back at the (very few tbh!) pieces I have added into my rotation of late, they all do just that. And on Tuesday it was the leopard print pony hair bag that ticked the personality piece box. My safe office look, zhuzh-ed up with a dash of fun.
Wednesday

Tasting notes:
I’m gonna be real with you here - as soon as I took off my coat I felt like a zoo keeper. No shade if you are a zoo keeper!!! But truly I felt like I was cosplaying someone chatting through the eating habits of various wild animals to a group of school children. The polo top with the beige - it was giving safari. I will not be repeating this look anytime soon. Furthermore proof that 90% of the time, when I decide to go rogue at 6:45am and try something new, it almost certainly does not pay off.
Thursday
On the menu:
Black leather bucket bag (similar*)
Tasting notes:
Ahhh, my current favourite possession. She is truly magnifique. Essentially I wear this jacket most days when the weather is dry. Granted that’s not all that often at the moment, but still! I feel so damn cool in this - call me Dakota Johnson!!! If you’re a regular around here, you’ll notice that I often wear it with loose straight leg jeans, my The Row dupe bucket bag and either loafers or ballerinas. Everything else is very understated, very quiet. I love that contrast, and much to my point re. personality pieces earlier, it really does all the talking so the rest of my wardrobe doesn’t have to.
Friday
It’s becoming a tradition (read: gross habit?!) that I get home from my workout at 8am and have to get infront of my laptop pretty much right away so I stay in my stinky gear until the afternoon when I shower and hop straight into my pyjamas for a cosy Friday evening. So, no outfit to show here!
Saturday

On the menu:
Ecru straight leg denim* (gifted)
Black slip on ballerinas (similar*)
Beige trench coat (gifted) (similar*)
Black leather bucket bag (similar*)
Tasting notes:
And on the 6th day of the week, it stopped raining! And it wasn’t freezing! Reading those sweet words ‘0% chance of precipitation’ and ‘feels like 12°C’ instantly had me feeling better about my wardrobe. An opportunity to white straight leg denim without it being splashed with rain water, open back ballerinas and a trench (albeit with a layer of cashmere underneath). I loved this look, and it’s got me really excited for spring dressing.
Sunday
On the menu:
Brown/khaki cotton car coat (similar*)
Light wash straight leg denim* (gifted)
Black leather bucket bag (similar*)
Tasting notes:
Sunday brought pretty much more of what Saturday dished out - sunshine and strolls, with nowhere really to be. Oh, we were spoilt! We went to the gym, did a quick clean of the flat, and then headed out with not much on the agenda. This outfit is lacking in the personality piece department, but come on, there are no hard and fast rules around here. We primarily wear what we want, and if that’s a lil basic so be it. Sure I could have added a statement earring or a colourful sock… but honetly I was more concerned with getting out ASAP and topping up my pretty much depleted vitamin D.
Thanks for reading! I hope you found some sprinklings of spring inspiration towards the end of this edition of The Look Buffet. Let me know, as always, your faves in the comments. I would love to hear your thoughts on personality pieces you’ve added to your wardrobe, or ones that are on your wish list!

Love your outfits!! Xx
